Hello and welcome to my site. You'll find reviews and press about the book (and me) here but I thought I'd add a few words about what the experience has been like for me this year. On the whole it's been tremendously rewarding. I wrote Warped Passages thinking there were people who wanted a more complete and balanced vision of the current state of physics—how and why we work on what we do and why it's not as outlandish as it might initially sound. I also gambled that there are people who really want to understand the physics and how the many ideas connect. It's been great to learn how many such people there are.
I've also given a number of public lectures and met some fascinating individuals. Some of the more surprising elements of the public response include:
• Friends who observe my lectures always comment on the quality of the questions I receive. I focus on the physics and so do the audience. I don't get too many crack-pot inquiries—during the talks at least…
• People get excited about particle physics and particle physics experiments once they learn about what it is all about. I don't know that I'm really surprised by this but it's very nice to observe. The upcoming experiments at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN near Geneva will test many ideas, including some of the warped extra-dimensional theories I talk about.
• People in general focus a lot on visual information—perhaps more than we theoretical physicists do. They are always very happy to find that I can't picture extra dimensions any better than they can.
That's it for now. Enjoy learning more about physics and the multi-dimensional universe!
